The Swarovski Story
I like to keep my customers informed on what's happening.
The beautiful crystals we carry in Beadworks are authentic Swarovski Crystals.
As you know, the US dollar has been declining in value against the Euro and
other international currencies. This increased the price of everything coming
into the US from other countries. Presently it takes $1.00 to buy 63 cents of
something in the Euro. That means we are paying over 1/3 more for what we buy
overseas.
Perhaps you have seen price increases in other stores.
I don't see the currency valuations changing for the better anytime during
2008. If anything, we may see further devaluation. The Fed has been doing things
to abate the fall of the dollar, but it takes time for corrections to work their
way through the system.
In January, Beadworks was told that Swarovski prices were increasing and then
in March we were advised of a second increase. Just for "grins" I checked the
futures market and 90 day contracts on Euros were higher for US dollars
purchasers.
Okay, maybe this is more information than you need.
We give you a 20% discount if you buy 20
packages (there are 12 beads in a package) of Swarovski.

Swarovski Crystal is considered by many
people to be the finest quality, full-lead
crystal made today. It is optically very pure. The crystal is faceted with
tremendous precision which creates beautiful prisms. Brilliant colors
and/or coatings are used to create beads of dazzling beauty with tremendous
variety of shapes and sizes. Swarovski Crystal is unmatched in quality and
distinction.
Daniel Swarovski and family founded the company in
1895. For more than a century, Swarovski has been the world's leading
supplier of the finest Crystal products available. Commitment to quality,
innovation and value continues today in the Swarovski factory based in the
Austrian Alps.
To cut hard materials such as crystal and gems in such a way that they
have a hundred identical facets in several directions is a very complicated
task. Swarovski continues to follow the company motto, "To constantly
improve what is good". First spoken by company founder Daniel Swarovski,
these words guide the movement of the company towards being on the cutting
edge of technology and fashion. It experimented in the fifties with
manufacturing processes in which the stones were coated with wafer thin
metal particles in order to increase their sparkle creating the Aurora
Borealis (AB) finish on half of the bead. When the coating is applied to
two sides of a bead, the designation 2X is added to the end of the color
name. Swarovski crystal will not lose any of its brilliance over time. The
precision and clarity of the material will not deteriorate.
